Memorial Fundraiser

MEMORIAL TO JOE BURNS, LYNCHED IN BERKELEY COUNTY, WV ON FEBRUARY 19TH, 1886

The Eastern Panhandle Community Remembrance Project Committee of the NAACP is raising $1,000 to pay for a roadside marker to memorialize the lynching of Joe Burns; Mr. Burns was murdered in 1886 in Berkeley County. The memorial roadside marker will be produced by WV Archives & History and installed near the tree from which Mr. Burns was lynched.

How to contribute

Donations can be made several ways:

1) Cash donation to any one of the executive committee members

2) By check payable to the NAACP, noting Joe Burns or Roadside Market in memo line, and mail to NAACP, PO Box 731, Martinsburg WV 25402
